World's largest Harry Potter theme park opens in Tokyo
Welcome to Harry Potter Universe!
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo - The Making of Harry Potter is the full name of the theme park. This is not an amusement park, but rather recreated locations from the Harry Potter universe: here you can drive to Hogwarts, attend a Quidditch match, go shopping in Diagon Alley or get an audience at the Ministry of Magic.
The opening took place on June 16 in Tokyo and was attended by Tom Felton, the British actor who played Draco Malfoy in the movies. Harry Potter fans around the world flocked to the capital of Japan and now you can get into the park only at the end of August - all tickets have already been sold out.
There are only 2 such theme parks in the world - the original one in London, UK, and the recently opened one in Tokyo, Japan. Do not confuse these locations with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, located in Orlando, Florida, USA - a theme park from Universal Studios, where you can ride a Hippogriff, try your hand at a dragon competition based on the Triwizard Tournament and visit the Sweet Kingdom in the village of Hogsmeade.
What is inside the park?
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo is divided into indoor and outdoor areas. Inside are the main sets, props and costumes from the films. Outside are houses, vehicles and sculptures. There is also an outdoor seating area.
The Park is spread over 30,000 m², a 15-minute drive from Tokyo, and it was built on the site of one of Tokyo's largest amusement parks. It is advised to book about 4 hours to visit the park - this time is enough to go around all the exhibits and have some snacks.
The Park consists of:
- Hogwarts. There is a large model of the castle here. You can visit the common rooms of Hogwarts Houses, see moving stairs and paintings, visit the Great Hall and some auditoriums, as well as Dumbledore's office.
- Forbidden Forest. Large trees and creepy sounds make this site very atmospheric. Here you can meet spiders (just like in the movies!), so those who are afraid of them are better off skipping this area. At the foot of the forest is Hagrid's house, just like in the movies.
- 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey. You can go inside and watch famous movie scenes. Inside the house - a Cupboard Under the Stairs!
- Ministry of Magic. The height of the walls of this building is 9 meters. The Ministry of Magic set is exclusive to Tokyo and was built by the filmmakers behind the Harry Potter films.
How much does it cost?
We recommend taking tickets in advance, now you can plan a trip for September. There will be no huge queues, as in Disneyland - there is a daily limit on visitors, so that's even good!
Ticket prices depend on age:
- For adults — ¥6,300 ($45);
- For children 12–17 years — ¥5,200 ($37);
- For children 4–11 years — ¥3,800 ($27).
We recommend buying tickets on the official website.
